Field hockey came to Surrey again this year at 2nd International Field Hockey held in Surrey BC Canada this year. The cup was held on 24,25,26 July 2009 on turf grounds in Tamanawis Park.
It looked nothing like a Tournament but a celebrations like a "Mela". There was free food for everyone supplied by various sponsors, tents were there to protect people from the sun but crowd was too big for tents. People from all ages,men,women,kids were present not only from indo-canadian community but mainstream community too.
This cup bring field hockey to these grounds second time this year.
There were teams from all over the world and local
teams as well.Not only hockey but bhangra teams were there to keep people glued on to their seats even in the bright hot Sun of July. Many olympians were present Balbir Sr., Baldev singh, Baljit Dhillon,Mark Saunders and Dhanraj Pillay came all the way from India. Islahudin Siddiqui,Tariq Imran from Pakistan, and local Olympians like Nick Sandhu, Gabbar,Ranjeev,Kahlon,Bindi were involved too. Final Match was played between Namdhari Eleven which came from India and Local Team United Brothers. People were cheering both teams when they entered the Stadium.

Namdhari eleven won the toss and took the side facing away from blarring Sun. It was very competitive match in which Naamdhari 11 players were attacking the locals right from the begning and they took one goal lead in first half. In Second Half Naamdharies scored again but United Brothers showed some classic moves and the scored the goal. but in the end Naamdhari 11 won the match by defeating United Brothers by 3-1.
